PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Hearth Division responded to a different hearth at a supposedly vacant construction at 1302 Ramsey St. early Wednesday morning, officers stated.
The hearth began on the second flooring of the home towards the entrance, Hearth Chief Jason Matthews stated. It seems to have been deliberately set, he stated.
The Hearth Division is working with detectives from the Parkersburg Police Division to find out who has been seen going into and out of the house, Matthews stated.
Though the home was posted as uninhabitable, a person had been residing within the rear of the construction on the primary flooring, he stated.
“He was capable of exit safely,” Matthews stated.
The house has been boarded up and no utilities are linked, Matthews stated, including it was crammed with trash and particles.
“It’s been like that for a while,” Matthews stated.
Firefighters had been dispatched at 3:07 a.m. and arrived at 3:10 a.m., Matthews stated. The hearth was extinguished in 10 minutes, however crews remained till shortly earlier than 7 a.m. to douse scorching spots.
“It did get into the attic,” Matthews stated.
In February, Parkersburg’s City Renewal Authority voted to amass the home for demolition. A neighboring vacant home is scheduled to be torn down by town quickly, Matthews stated.
That is the second vacant home this week to which firefighters had been known as and the ninth hearth general at an empty home within the metropolis.
Late Sunday night time, they responded to a fireplace at 639 Madison Ave. that resulted within the construction being demolished on Monday. The reason for that fireside stays below investigation.
