Sardhana police on Saturday booked the UP chief of Sangeet Som Sena, Sachin Khatik, and 6 others for attempting to disturb communal peace after they allegedly vandalised a meals cart, claiming that mutton biryani was being bought.
The outfit, fashioned by the supporters of former BJP MLA Sangeet Som, had earlier reportedly known as for a ban on the sale of meat and non-vegetarian meals in Sardhana in the course of the Navratri pageant that started on Saturday.
“We’ve registered a case in opposition to Khatik and 6 others as they tried to disturb communal peace. The meals cart vendor was promoting vegetable biryani, which Khatik and his supporters claimed to be mutton biryani. Even when it had been non-veg biryani, vandalising the cart was against the law geared toward creating pointless mischief as a result of sale of mutton or rooster biryani is just not banned,” Laxman Verma, the in-charge of Sardhana Police Station instructed The Sunday Categorical.
Sardhana is a city with a large Muslim inhabitants. Forward of Navratri pageant, meat sellers within the city had determined to eliminate the sale of mutton and rooster in the course of the nine-day pageant.
In line with police, Khatik and his supporters on Saturday roamed the city to see if the cart sellers had heeded their name for a ban on the sale of mutton and rooster. They allegedly focused the meals cart, which was promoting vegetable biryani, and turned it the wrong way up.
Saajid, the proprietor of the meals cart, alleged that Khatik and his supporters additionally looted cash from him.

Within the afternoon, members of the Sangeet Som Sena stormed towards my cart and vandalised it. Additionally they looted the money I had,” Saajid mentioned.
Later, former zila panchayat chief, Seema Pradhan, reached the spot and protested in opposition to Sangeet Som Sena. “Although a case has been registered in opposition to the Sangeet Som Sena chief, we doubt that police would go for a severe investigation due to the clout that the previous BJP MLA wields,” alleged Seema Pradhan, whose husband, Atul Pradhan, defeated Sangeet Som within the simply concluded Meeting elections within the state.
